TRACKS

August 7, 2009

Just a few tracks that haven´t been fare away from my ear lately.

First off we have Electrick Dragon. Hailing from Rotterdam, they keep the crow safely with the Dutch as kings of throwback italo-disco. Out now on Moustache Records.

Electrick Dragon – Davorite
(Buy)

Second off we have an old favorite. A collaboration between I:Cube and Wu-Tang´s RZA. Hip-Hop´s ok when it´s done with a techno sensibility.

I:Cube feat. RZA – Can You Deal With That?

And lastly, but not leastly, the newest release from Peter Visti on the always amazing label Eskimo Records.

Visti & Meyland – Yes Mam (All Night Long)

DON´T COME AROUND HERE NO MORE

August 6, 2009

1984 saw Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers release what I belive to be their best album Southern Accents. The stand out track among all these great tracks was Don´t Come Around Here No More, with its relentless slow building groove.

Swedish edit team Vastkustska Ryggdunkarsallskapet have taken it upon themselves to do a dub edit of the same track. Not much has changed except for Mr. Petty´s vocals being cut out. Solid effort though.

SOIREE

August 5, 2009

Max Essa has quickly become a friend of the blog. He has kindly sent over a track from his new release on Bear Funk, which is a collaboration between “Chicken Lip” Steve Kotey and himself, aptly entitled Soiree.

From Max:

Just to give a little background on the project….

‘Soiree is a new collaboration project by Stevie Kotey and Max Essa. Over the last couple of years the pair have been working with various musicians such as the drummer, Dave Barbarossa ( Adam & The Ants, Bow Wow Wow ) and the percussionist, Des Barnes from Yam Who? The resulting tracks are a melting pot of Jazz Funk, Disco, Rock and wonky dance music of every persuasion. Comparisons have been made to the work of Arthur Russell and Ian Dury and the Soiree L.P due out in Autumn 2009 is sure to be one of this years highlights.’

The debut EP from Soiree, ‘Introducing Soiree’, is out now, so go buy it!
